Kansas
Kansas SHAP funding will expand coverage and increase market penetration to children below 250% FPL (mandated by 2008 legislation), pregnant women (through presumptive eligibility), and to populations with historically low Medicaid/SCHIP penetration rates, such as residents who are Hispanic, Native American, low-income, or who live in rural areas. Kansas is achieving these expansions through the development, implementation, and deployment of an automated online eligibility/enrollment information system, as well as through the development and implementation of a statewide marketing and education plan.
